We hired Brit Renovations to renovate the main floor. With numerous mistakes, poor workmanship, re-dos, missed deadlines and broken promises, it was a decision we came to regret. Timeline was April 18 to June 30. They started with a team but soon there was one person working, at times no-one for a week. June 30 passed. Summer and fall we waited for them to finish never knowing if anyone would show. The owner went on holidays without telling us, claiming he had texted with no proof of the text. Three times I threatened to hire another company but nothing changed. The owner rarely reviewed the work forcing us to watch over them as the finish and detail couldn’t be trusted. The following are just some examples: – Tried to use brick wall as support which is NOT to code – Wall framed crookedly with a bad bend. Fixed 3 times but still has a bend and obvious joint – Framing and drywall has bumps, curves, not straight or true. – No insulation on a wall section where a puddle of condensation formed – Room with stored electronics, dishes, pots and pans was left open. Thick layer of dust on everything – Wrong backsplash measurements were taken. Quartz was re-cut from a different lot – Window delivered too late leading to improper alignment with the installed backsplash – Electrical wires left hanging, switches installed crookedly. Details on which breaker was connected to which switch were mostly wrong – Claimed parts of the attic had been insulated. I checked and saw none there – Told us a water barrier between porch roof and siding wasn’t needed. Two roofing companies said there will be problems if not fixed. – Aluminum wrapping and siding was a mess of crooked framing, patchwork and awful quality they couldn’t fix. Claimed it was not their area of expertise. In addition: Front door delivered in wrong color, creaking flooring, glass doors installed backwards, stove exhaust vented into the soffit, and much more. They fixed some things but abandoned the job in November without a word. So much for their promise of “Quality” and “Integrity”. Have no idea why there’s so many 5 star reviews because it sure wasn’t our experience. We will never use Brit Renovations again. UPDATE. The surprises just keep on coming with this company. I removed some drywall to fix condensation problems on the wall Rob built with some missing insulation only to find that there was no vapor barrier. When I removed the drywall, there was yet another Brit Reno surprise (and another code violation, new images attached ) with an electrical outlet held in place by drywall, not screwed to the wood framing according to code. I’ve had to hire someone to spray foam and re-install the drywall. Still fixing his substandard work years later.

Rob and his team did a great job renovating our bathrooms, repairing the ceiling after a leak and grouting the kitchen tiles. But then we had problems with the shower head and faucet that he had installed in the main bathroom. The water cones out of the shower head and faucet at the same time. He tried to fix it a couple of times but it is still not working properly. We were told this would be fixed but have not heard from him in over two months despite regular repeated calls.
